| INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES | a) The teacher begins the lesson by asking the students to tell her again what they have read in Chapters 5 and 6. The teacher listens as the students recap the earlier chapters. b) Next, she gets the students to look at the titles of Chapters 7 and 8. She tells them to predict what will happen next in these chapters. The students are expected to say that they will learn about an adventure that happens to Phileas and Passepartout. It is about something exciting and exhilarating. They are also expected to say that the group will continue their travel in India and will see the River Ganges. c) The teacher reads these two chapters in class and pauses at parts where she wants the students to guess the meaning of words or phrases. d) At the end of the reading, she asks the students to identify 1 reason why Phileas decides to save Aouda, what kind of adventure is mentioned in Chapter 7 and 1 reason why Phileas decides to bring Aouda to Hong Kong with them. e) Then, she gives them notes on these two chapters. f) Before the class ends, the teacher asks the students to give 2 main ideas in Chapters 7 and 8. |
| REFLECTION | The notes on Chapters 7 and 8 were completed. The students had read the synopsis for the book and therefore guess the contents of Chapters 7 and 8 correctly. They were also able to answer 2 out of 3 questions that the teacher asked and the 2 questions on the main ideas. |
