INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a) The teacher begins the lesson by informing the students once again that they will be sitting for a “PBS” test. The teacher distributes PBS worksheets that will test band 1 which are B1DL1E1 and B1DB1.
b) For the first worksheet, the teacher reads out the instruction for the students to understand. Then, she tells them to do the first worksheet as she pronounces each word slowly.
c) Once this first worksheet is done, she moves on to the second worksheet. The students are to listen to her reading a short text. The teacher explains each sentence to the students as they have a lot of difficulty to understand English words.
d) Then, the teacher reads each of the 4 objective questions that they have to answer. She explains the meaning of each question before they answer the questions.
e) When the students have answered all of the questions, the teacher collects their answer scripts.
f) Before the lesson ends, the teacher reminds them to bring their writing exercise books on Thursday.
REFLECTION
Only 2 students failed B1DB1E1 while all of the students passed B1DL1E1.

a) Sebelum guru mengedarkan soalan band 4 untuk bab 7, guru menerangkan sekali lagi kepentingan kawasan tanah tinggi, tanah pamah, saliran dan pinggir laut di Malaysia.
b) Kemudian, guru mengedarkan soalan band 4 dan menerangkan arahan kepada pelajar
c) Pelajar diminta menjawab secara individu dan diberikan masa untuk menjawab.
d) Pada akhir masa, guru mengutip kertas jawapan pelajar.
e) Sebelum kelas ditamatkan, guru mengingatkan pelajar sekali lagi untuk bersedia menjawab soalan band 4 pada hari Khamis.
REFLEKSI
Semua pelajar menguasai soalan band 4 tetapi dengan bantuan guru yang perlu mengingatkan pelajar secara lisan mengenai perkara-perkara penting yang telah dipelajari

Chapter 13: Mr. Fogg and Party Cross The Pacific Ocean
Chapter 14: Phileas and Passepartout Meet Outlaws and Bandits on the Railroad
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
a) explain the solution to the problem of their train that can’t cross a damaged bridge
b) explain what Phileas and Passepartout do when the train is attacked by bandits and outlaws
c) give a solution to stop the train from crashing due to lost of control
LEARNING EMPHASIS

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a) Before the teacher begins Chapters 13 and 14, the teacher asks the students to tell her again about what they have read in Chapter 12. The students are expected to say that they read about how Passepartout meets Phileas and Aouda in Yokohama after having to travel alone there.
b) Then, the teacher gets the students ready to read Chapters 13 and 14 by asking them to guess what will happen next based on the titles of these two chapters.
c) Next, the teacher reads these two chapters and pauses at paragraphs where they will need to know in order to achieve the three objectives of this lesson.
d) At the end of the reading, the teacher gives notes for these chapters.
e) Before the lesson ends, the teacher asks the students to explain the solution to the problem of their train that can’t cross a damaged bridge, to explain what Phileas and Passepartout do when the train is attacked by bandits and outlaws as well as to give a solution to stop the train from crashing due to lost of control.
REFLECTION
The two chapters were completed in this lesson. However, the notes will only be given next Monday as the teacher required more time to elicit students’ answers for the 3 questions. They were able to answer 1 question correctly while they were unable to explain the answer for the other 2 questions due to lack of vocabulary.

LEARNING EMPHASIS
Language for learning purpose
INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a) Teacher begins the lesson by asking the students to explain to her if they like or dislike examinations as well as reasons for their choice. The students respond while the teacher listens.
b) Then, the teacher tells the students to read a question that the teacher has written on the board. She relates students’ opinions with what is being asked in the question.
c) She gets the students to highlight key words in the question, to identify the tense and useful vocabulary to be used in the article. She also gives them a rough layout for an essay on opinions.
d) Next, she demonstrates how to organize the points given by outlining the number of sentences and key words to be used in each paragraph.
e) Then, she shows how to build a suitable title for the essay by using key words in the question.
f) After that, she moves on to the introduction where the students are asked to construct 2 sentences using the points in the question.
g) The rest of the 4 paragraphs for the body of the essay is done by both the teacher and the students. The teacher begins the first sentence for each paragraph while the students are asked to construct the second and the third sentences for each paragraph. This is because each paragraph will have 3 sentences.
h) The conclusion will be done by the teacher. She shows how to sum up the whole essay in one sentence. This is done by looking at the students’ stand which is they are against examinations
i) The sample essay is copied by the students.
REFLECTION
The essay couldn’t be completed. This is because the teacher needed a lot of time to familiarize the students with the steps to writing an effective essay. The teacher stopped at the introductory paragraph. The essay will be continued again during Wednesday’s lesson.

The teacher begins the first sentence for each paragraph while the students are asked to construct the second and the third sentences for each paragraph. This is because each paragraph will have 3 sentences.
h) The conclusion will be done by the teacher. She shows how to sum up the whole essay in one sentence. This is done by looking at the students’ stand which is they are against examinations.
i) The essay is completed in the class and before the lesson ends, the teacher reminds the students that they will do some revision for summary writing next week.
REFLECTION
This lesson couldn’t be carried out as the assembly was held from 5.10 to 6.20 pm. This lesson will be carried out on Tuesday next week.

a) The teacher continues the unfinished essay on opinions in class. She gets the students to take out their exercise books.
b) The rest of the 4 paragraphs after the introduction for the body is done by both the teacher and the students. The teacher begins the first sentence for each paragraph while the students are asked to construct the second and the third sentences for each paragraph. This is because each paragraph will have 3 sentences.
h) The conclusion will be done by the teacher. She shows how to sum up the whole essay in one sentence. This is done by looking at the students’ stand which is they are against examinations.
i) The essay is completed in the class and before the lesson ends, the teacher reminds the students that they will do some revision for summary writing next week.
REFLECTION
The students were asked to write their answers on the board instead of the teacher writing their answers. In this way, the students get to see their mistakes as their work was edited by the teacher on the black board. The teacher completed all of the 5 out of 6 paragraphs of the essay but the students were asked to write the conclusion on their own and to submit their exercise books on Friday.

At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
a) construct a sentence with 5 words
b) use plural nouns and plural verbs correctly in a sentence
LEARNING EMPHASIS

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a) The teacher asks the students to explain the meaning of plural nouns and verbs by giving some examples. The students are expected to give plural nouns such as people, flowers or books and plural verbs such as wear, study and write to name a few.
b) Then, she tells them to construct 5 sentences where only the main verb and the object are given. They are asked to complete the sentences.
c) The teacher gives one example how to complete this exercise.
d) She gives them 15 minutes to do this on their own.
e) At the end of the time, she calls some students to write their sentences. Then, she corrects their sentences and explains why they make mistakes.
f) Before the class ends, she asks the students to give examples of plural nouns and plural verbs once again in order to test their comprehension of the exercise.
REFLECTION
This lesson could not be completed. The students have written down this exercise but the teacher could not check their work yet. This is because she needed the time to help 2 students to answer 2 PBS questions on Band 1. This lesson will be continued on Friday.

b) Guru beredar ke subtopik baru untuk hari itu iaitu mengenali kepentingan kawasan tanah tinggi, cerun bukit, sungai dan tasik di negara lain dan membandingkannya dengan Malaysia.
c) Guru menyuruh pelajar menyalin nota yang diberikan oleh guru. Guru pula akan menggunakan nota yang disalin ini untuk menerangkan secara lebih jelas kepada pelajar mengenai subtopik ini.
d) Kemudian, guru meminta pelajar untuk membaca nota mereka selama 10 minit. Selepas itu, guru mengedarkan soalan PBS iaitu Band 4 yang berkaitan dengan pelajaran pada hari itu.
e) Guru menjelaskan arahan dan memberikan masa kepada pelajar untuk menjawab soalan band 4 itu. Guru memberikan sedikit bantuan iaitu memberikan kata kunci penting untuk menjawab soalan-soalan.
f) Pada akhir masa, guru mengutip kertas jawapan pelajar.
g) Sebelum kelas ditamatkan, guru mengingatkan pelajar mengenai pentaksiran PBS iaitu band 4 yang terakhir untuk bab 7.
REFLEKSI
Semua pelajar menguasai band 4 ini.

a) The teacher continues the lesson on writing simple sentences with 5 words by concentrating on plural nouns and plural verbs.
b) She gives them 10 minutes to do this on their own before she calls some of them to write their sentences on the board.
c) Then, she checks for any mistakes and comments on how to improve their sentences.
d) Next, the teacher tells them to tell her what they have learned for the poem “I Wonder” last week. The students are expected to describe about the questions that a child asks to his father.
e) She gives them 1 simple exercise where they are to identify true or false statements based on the poem.
f) She gives them 10 minutes to do this on their own. At the end of the time, she calls some students to read out their answers.
g) The answers are checked
h) Before the lesson ends, the teacher reminds the students to come on Monday for a PBS assessment.
REFLECTION
The teacher couldn’t carry out the lesson on sentence construction. The students didn’t bring their books. Hence, the teacher decided to continue to Literature where the students could only answer 3 or 4 correct statements out of 10 statements.

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES
a) The teacher begins the lesson by asking the students what they still learn about Chapter 8 that they have read last week. The students are expected to say that they read how Phileas is generous to give Kiouni the elephant to Ali and what Aouda informs Phileas about her background.
b) Then, the teacher decides to give notes for Chapter 6 to 8. The students are asked to copy down these notes.
c) When they are done, the teacher moves on to Chapters 9 and 10. She reads these 2 chapters and pauses at paragraphs that show the answers to the 3 questions that she will ask the students later.
d) At the end of the reading, the teacher asks the students to give 1 reason why Phileas pays a lot of money to help Passepartout, to give 1 reason why Aouda is following Phileas and Passepartout to Japan and 1 more reason why Detective Fix is happy with the delay of “Carnatic” to Hong Kong.
e) Before the lesson ends, the teacher reminds the students to bring their novels and exercise books for a revision on the novel next week.
REFLECTION
This lesson could not be carried out as the teacher had to complete notes on Chapters 1 to 4. This is because most of the time, the teacher concentrated on discussing the novel in the class with the students. This lesson will be conducted in coming lessons.
