INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES | a) Teacher distributes worksheets to the students and explains to them how to construct sentences for the introduction, the conclusion and the sentences for each paragraph b) Teacher illustrates how to write sentences for the introduction, conclusion as well as sentences for the second paragraph c) The essay is to be completed as homework by the students and to be handed in on Thursday |
REFLECTION | Based on students’ participation in class, their understanding is about 50%. However, the teacher still needs to check their essays in the weekend |

INSTRUCTIONAL PROCEDURES | a) Teacher asks students to firstly give examples of sentences that use simple past tense verbs. They are called to the front and their sentences are checked for errors. Teacher discusses and gives her own examples. She directs their attention to the past tense verbs and the role of subject, verb and object in a sentence b) Then, she gets them to look at a picture in a worksheet. They are given 10 minutes to construct sentences using simple past tense. At the end of the time, she gets the students to write their sentence on the board and these are checked again. Teacher stresses on the correct verbs. c) Next, teacher repeats similar steps in order to familiarise the students with past continuous tense. d) Before the class ends, she gets them to identify the differences between the two tenses which will help them to write better sentences in their essays. |
REFLECTION | Students’ understanding of these two exercises is about 70%. However, their vocabulary of verbs is quite limited. Teacher reminds them to read more in order to be able to describe verbs in a more interesting way |
